Men’s Health Week 2026: Taking Time for Your Health

15–21 June 2026 | Life Medical Imaging

Men’s Health Week is an annual reminder that looking after your health is not something that should only happen when a problem arises. Taking proactive steps to maintain your wellbeing can make a significant difference to your quality of life, both now and in the future.

Running from 15 to 21 June 2026, Men’s Health Week encourages men across Australia to prioritise their physical health, mental wellbeing and overall lifestyle habits.

At Life Medical Imaging, we are proud to support initiatives that encourage healthier communities and positive conversations about wellbeing across the Central Coast.

WHY MEN’S HEALTH MATTERS

Research consistently shows that many men are less likely to seek medical advice, attend routine health checks or discuss health concerns early. Men’s Health Week is an opportunity to check in with yourself and consider whether there are simple steps you can take to support your long-term health.

HEALTH STARTS WITH EVERYDAY HABITS

Good health is rarely about one major change. More often, it comes from small, consistent habits that support overall wellbeing, including regular exercise, quality sleep, healthy eating, social connection and routine GP check-ups.

LOOKING AFTER YOUR HEART HEALTH

Heart disease remains one of the leading health concerns affecting Australian men. Understanding your risk factors and discussing them with your GP can be an important part of maintaining long-term cardiovascular health.

HOW MEDICAL IMAGING CAN SUPPORT MEN’S HEALTH

Medical imaging can play an important role in helping doctors investigate symptoms, monitor existing conditions and assess certain health risks. Depending on your age, medical history, symptoms and risk factors, your GP or specialist may recommend imaging as part of your overall healthcare plan.

CT CORONARY ANGIOGRAPHY (CTCA)

CT Coronary Angiography is a specialised CT scan that allows doctors to visualise the coronary arteries. Your doctor may request a CTCA when assessing coronary artery disease or investigating certain cardiac symptoms.

CORONARY ARTERY CALCIUM SCORING

A calcium score is a low-dose CT scan that measures calcium within the coronary arteries. For some men, particularly those with cardiovascular risk factors or a family history of heart disease, calcium scoring may be used as part of an overall cardiovascular risk assessment.

ECHOCARDIOGRAMS AND STRESS ECHOCARDIOGRAMS

Cardiac ultrasound examinations can provide information about heart structure and function. Your doctor may request an echocardiogram or stress echocardiogram when assessing specific heart conditions or symptoms.

LOW-DOSE CT IMAGING

CT imaging can assist doctors in investigating a wide range of symptoms and conditions affecting the chest, lungs, abdomen, pelvis, musculoskeletal system and blood vessels. Life Medical Imaging offers advanced low-dose CT technology at our Erina clinic.

ULTRASOUND IMAGING

Ultrasound may be used to assess abdominal organs, kidneys, urinary tract, vascular health, soft tissue concerns and musculoskeletal injuries. Ultrasound uses sound waves and does not involve radiation.

DEXA BONE DENSITY AND BODY COMPOSITION

Many people associate DEXA scans with osteoporosis, but they can also provide valuable information about bone health, lean muscle mass and body composition. As men age, understanding these factors can form part of a broader health and wellbeing strategy.

IMAGE GUIDED PROCEDURES

Life Medical Imaging also provides a range of image-guided procedures and biopsies that may assist clinicians in investigating specific conditions when required.

THE RIGHT TEST DEPENDS ON THE INDIVIDUAL

Not every imaging examination is appropriate for every patient. The most suitable investigation will depend on your symptoms, medical history and your doctor’s clinical assessment.

STAYING ACTIVE ON THE CENTRAL COAST

Whether it is walking along the coastline, swimming at your local beach, joining a sporting club, cycling with friends or participating in community events such as Run Fest, movement can play an important role in supporting both physical and mental wellbeing.

MENTAL WELLBEING MATTERS TOO

Mental wellbeing, resilience and social connection all contribute to overall quality of life. Checking in with friends, speaking openly about challenges and seeking support when needed are important aspects of maintaining good health.

SUPPORTING A HEALTHIER COMMUNITY

As an independently owned and community-focused imaging provider, Life Medical Imaging is committed to supporting the health and wellbeing of the Central Coast community through local partnerships, sporting clubs and community events.
